Paulina Rosner: “I spent 2 weeks at the Himalayan Yogini Retreat, located in the hills of Happy Village with a beautiful view of Fewa Lake.
The days there were an amazing mix of yoga classes, meditation classes, yoga philosophy and, of course, Mangal’s incredibly delicious food.
I felt at home from the moment I arrived there and it was very difficult leaving again in the end.
Shyam is an amazing teacher and he created a truly magical little place up on that hillside.
I’m really thankful for the time I was able to spend there with these wonderful people and hope to return in the future!”
Kristina Matysik: “If you are thinking of doing a 200 hour YTT this is the best place to go. Shyam makes sure to keep his class sizes very small (usually under 7 people) and I was fortunate enough to go through the training in a class of 2. If I ever had any questions I could always talk to Shyam. His personalized approach and genuine care for his students sets this place apart.
I stumbled on this center by reading through a blog. Unlike some other centers, this place isn’t “yoga business”. Himalayan Yogini is authentic and cares about its students and guests (not money).
I met a lot of wonderful people who came to stay at the center for several days to several weeks. Even though they were not part of the YTT I still was able to practice with them as well. The food is phenomenal and if you have any dietary requests Pema (Shyam’s wife and amazing cook) makes sure to cook based on your health restrictions.
I loved the experience. I came back home feeling much more rejuvenated and healthy. I guess all those jala netis, pranayamas, meditations, and asanas paid off!
I am forever grateful to have had a chance to practice yoga here. Thank you so much”
Tim Exley: “I’ve just finished the HY200 teacher training ( March 2017) and I cannot recommend HY and the teachers more highly.
If you are looking for a small retreat with very much a hands on personal style, in a beautiful and peaceful location, yet close to a major tourist host spot, this is for you.
The 4 weeks I spent there have given me so much in allowing me to grow within myself and develop my practice.
I am witness that yoga is for anyone, of any ability and of any age.
My only regret is that I have to leave.”
Ana Godoy Alba: “The days I spent in Himalayan yogin have been wonderful. In a privileged environment, with wonderful views and very comfortable facilities, receiving yoga classes and meditation with lots of love. I recommend visiting this place if you have the opportunity, whether you are a regular practitioner or if you want to get started in practice and spend some great days and have the opportunity to connect with your interior, learn and meet wonderful people. If you are thinking of a course to train as a teacher, you will receive a serious and professional formation, imparted with much love. I hope to see you again soon. Thank you Shyam and the whole team of Himalayan Yogini Retreat for this experience. I have you in my heart.”
Esra Yoga: “I had the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at HY and my partner took daily classes for 3 weeks. At the end of 4 weeks, I feel happy, relaxed and changed because I have had the opportunity to do this course in this peaceful place with great people.
Everyone in the center are who they really are, so natural, calm, friendly and ready to help. During our stay, we felt so comfortable that we were feeling like at home. I could met with wonderful people, lovely classmates and a great teacher.
Shyam has been more than a teacher, now I feel that he is a great friend of us. He is always organized and in his every moment you can tell he is so dedicated to teaching yoga.
All the food were very good and the center was very clean as everyone were doing their best for HY. It has been a wonderful experience and I recommend to everyone because I have met great people, enjoyed and learnt a lot about yoga, teaching and life.”
Freja M Sonichsen: “Shyam helped us, a group of 9 people, organize a yoga trek that was custom made for our needs. We started out 4 girls wanting to go, and the group kept growing and he was very flexible with the addition. He organized for us to have our mats carried (for some of the way), a guide, and a yoga teacher. Everything was taken care of according to our liking and budget, and he was very responsive when we had questions. We hiked for 4 days in the mountains and did 90min yoga sessions twice a day at the different tea houses, sessions which were tailored to what our bodies were needing after hours of walking through “Nepali Flat” and jungle.
I would recommend asking questions though, as information is not given in a handout, but is only giving through Shyam.
The price was very good for the service we recieved, it was cheaper and more of a hands on experience than at a yoga retreat… I recommend the yoga trek through Himalayan Yogini!”
